West-Friesland is still home to exquisite examples of municipal buildings that reflect the pride of local residents, such as the Spanbroek town hall. This town, which received city rights in 1414, boasts a town hall that is widely considered as an architectural jewel of the Dutch Renaissance (1550-1650).
